Bourne's Coffee Shop & Bistro in Denby Pottery Village offers a cozy, bustling atmosphere that suits those looking for a relaxed café experience with a bit more variety than your typical coffee stop. It blends the informal ease of a coffee shop with the option to enjoy heartier meals, making it a practical spot for breakfast, lunch, or afternoon tea.

Located along Derby Road, this spot draws a steady local crowd, especially in the mornings and around early afternoon. The breakfast hours are limited and can feel quite busy, reflecting its popularity among locals who appreciate a straightforward, casual setting where orders are placed at the counter and food is brought to your table. The service is friendly and efficient, even during busy times like the Christmas market weekend.

Coffee here is well-received and pairs nicely with their food offerings, which include everything from classic breakfast plates such as Eggs Benedict to comforting homestyle dishes like Chicken Tikka Masala. The menu also features lighter options like quiches, salads, and sandwiches, which makes it a versatile spot whether you're after a quick bite or a more leisurely meal.

Afternoon tea at Bourne’s is a notable feature, especially appealing for those wanting to linger over a generous selection of fresh sandwiches, substantial scones, and a variety of cakes and macaroons accompanied by unlimited tea or coffee. The use of Denby pottery dishes adds a charming local touch that connects the café to its village roots.

While the space can get quite busy, the absence of traditional table service means it’s best suited to those comfortable with a casual café rhythm rather than fine dining. Portions tend to be generous and well-prepared, with particular praise for roast dinners and homemade soups, catering well to diners seeking hearty, home-style meals.

Overall, Bourne’s serves as a versatile community hub in Denby Pottery Village — ideal for visitors and locals who want solid coffee, a range of lunch and breakfast options, and the chance to enjoy some comforting homemade food without a formal sit-down experience. It’s well-suited to a relaxed catch-up, a casual bite after browsing local shops, or a pleasantly unpretentious afternoon tea treat.

The food was nice. Reasonably priced Varied menu choices. The food was very hot. Poached eggs were overcooked. Fairly quick service. All served in Denby dishes. Coffee was lovely. Breakfast is ordered at the counter and they'll bring it to your table. Staff were friendly. The cafe was very busy.

My husband and I took Afternoon Tea at Bourne's restaurant this afternoon. We were very impressed. There was a good selection of sandwiches, which were freshly made and well presented. The scones were massive and scrumptious.the There was a choice of cake and also macaroons. These were all delicious. There was unlimited tea or coffee. We were even offered to take anything home that we couldn't eat. Everything was served in beautiful, colourful Denby Pottery. The staff were welcoming and attentive and the service was excellent. Although we have visited the Denby village outlet on many, many occasions before, but we had never had afternoon tea. Definately will partake again. Thank you for the great experience. .

The homemade vegetable soup was delicious, I had beef with potatoes and veg for my main meal, that too I cannot fault, it was delicious it was very busy due to the fact it was the Christmas market weekend, even so the service was smooth and friendly. I highly recommend it. Be aware it is not table service.

Amazing roast dinner - crispy roasties, loads of meat, the best cauliflower cheese! Great portion size and only £12. Going to recommend to all my friends and family

I had the big breakfast, perfectly cooked with ingredients from the local butchers shop. Added bonus for me was the tinned tomatoes instead of fresh, which I very much prefer. I will definitely be back.
